Meet April:

I'm April,  a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who  specializes in working with women in all stages of life. I provide counseling for pregnant women, new mothers, experienced moms with a new baby, and women expecting a baby later in life. Support is provided for individuals who have experienced birth trauma, pregnancy termination, pregnancy loss, and infant loss.  Women feeling ambivalent or pressured to have children are welcome to openly discuss concerns.  Also, counseling is provided for persons diagnosed with a chronic illness and their loved ones.  Assault, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse survivors are welcome to contact me for services.  I enjoy empowering individuals who feel like "I'm not good enough", "I need to be perfect at everything",  or the woman who takes care of everyone except herself.  My hope is for you to become healed from the pain or overwhelm that life has thrust your way.

Let's be honest...change requires commitment, consistency,  and patience. I work best with individuals who are motivated.  I offer a space to laugh, cry, yell, sit in silence for a bit, or talk about anything you need to get off your chest. At this point in life, there isn't really much that shocks me. Feel free to let it out. I believe in being compassionate, transparent, and honest. I provide a space for you to come as you are without worrying about where you are in life or what you have done.

Now this is where I tell you about me...

I love learning, comedies, books, tea, chocolate, the sound of waves, smell of the ocean, and feel of the sand between my toes.  At a young age, I was drawn to the hurting person. I wanted to find a way to help the person feel better. This continued as I was exposed to multiple losses and witnessed individuals in my small rural town struggle to manage chronic illnesses. The lack of resources available was a catalyst for me to pursue a Master of Social Work degree.  Due to a desire to integrate faith and counseling, I obtained a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from a Christian university.

I have been trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy which is foundational in my

therapeutic work.  I have a certificate of completion in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and completed advanced training for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Also, I have completed CBT for anxiety and depression through the Beck Institute.  If you need support, I would love to connect with you.

The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure, and beautiful beyond description.
